How far is Lallybroch from Edinburgh ?
Lallybroch is real life Midhope Castle, an ancient 500 year old castle outside Edinburgh . It was pretty much unknown until Outlander started filming there . The castle is near South Queensferry on the private Hopetoun Estate. Lallybroch is about 10 miles from Edinburgh city centre and one of the top locations for Outlander tours from Edinburgh or Glasgow . Hopetoun House is another popular filming location .

Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house, was Lallybroch (also known as Broch Tuarach) in Outlander . Lallybroch is also home to Jamie’s sister, Jenny, her husband Ian Murray and their children.
